The new facility is designed to showcase the transformative potential of 5G technology for businesses, innovators, and everyday users, reinforcing MTN’s leadership in the telecommunications sector.

The launch event, which gathered key industry figures, including representatives from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and popular tech influencers like Fisayo Fosudo and Izzi Boye, highlighted MTN’s ongoing commitment to delivering state-of-the-art services that enhance the lives of Nigerians.

The 5G Experience Centre offers interactive demonstrations of cutting-edge technology, including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and ultra-high-definition (UHD) streaming. Attendees at the event had the chance to see firsthand how these innovations can be applied to everyday life and business operations.

Speaking at the launch, MTN Nigeria’s Chief Customer Relations Officer, Ugonwa Nwoye, emphasized the company’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of technological innovation. “We are thrilled to introduce the MTN 5G Experience Centre, which serves as a hub of innovation, bringing the latest technology directly to our customers. At MTN, technology is not just about providing data; it’s about empowering people with the tools to achieve their full potential,” Nwoye said. She further highlighted that MTN’s 5G services have the capacity to revolutionize key sectors such as healthcare, education, and agriculture, driving growth and digital adoption across Nigeria.

Reflecting on MTN’s pioneering role in the region, Nwoye noted, “We were the first to launch 5G in West Africa, and today, we continue that journey by bringing faster connectivity and new possibilities to Nigerians.” She underscored the role of the new centre in fostering creativity and encouraging businesses to harness the power of 5G.

Engineer Joseph Emeshili, Head of Spectrum Planning at the NCC, praised MTN’s efforts on behalf of the commission’s Executive Vice Chairman, Dr. Aminu Maida. “The NCC commends MTN for this significant move to promote the development of emerging technologies in Nigeria. This centre offers customers the opportunity to experience the full potential of 5G technology, and it’s an important step in advancing the nation’s tech ecosystem,” Emeshili remarked. He called for collaborative efforts to ensure that 5G and other emerging technologies continue to thrive across the country.

MTN Nigeria’s Chief Information Officer, Shoyinka Shodunke, also expressed excitement at the launch, calling it a pivotal moment for the company. “This centre is not just about today’s unveiling—it’s an invitation to explore the future of 5G. The possibilities we’re showcasing here reflect the dreams and ideas of our customers, which we’ve turned into reality,” Shodunke said. He highlighted MTN’s innovative approach, encouraging customers to participate in co-creating new technologies, transforming ideas into tangible experiences.

MTN also reiterated its commitment to expanding 5G coverage across Nigeria. In addition to the Abuja centre, the company plans to open more 5G Experience Centres in key cities, aiming to bridge the digital divide and promote widespread digital literacy.

“As we enter this new era of connectivity, we encourage all Nigerians to discover the endless opportunities that 5G technology offers,” Nwoye added. “Together, we can build a more connected, informed, and prosperous nation.”
