MTN Nigeria, in collaboration with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and its local partner, the Nigeria Conservation Foundation (NCF), is thrilled to announce the launch of the Nigeria PachiPanda Challenge. This initiative, a key component of the broader Africa PachiPanda Challenge, aims to drive innovation and tackle critical environmental issues across the continent.

The Nigeria PachiPanda Challenge invites young innovators, aged 16 to 35, and youth-led small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to create groundbreaking solutions tailored to Nigeria’s unique environmental challenges. Participants, whether individuals or teams of up to three members, will have the chance to showcase their ideas and compete for top honors.

The competition will feature a transformative 3-day sprint event for the top ten finalist teams. During this phase, teams will engage in a human-centered design process to refine their concepts. The event will culminate in a pitch session where participants present their innovative solutions to a panel of esteemed industry experts.

Winning teams from the Nigeria PachiPanda Challenge will advance to the Africa PachiPanda Challenge, where they will compete against national winners from other participating countries for regional recognition.

Tobe Okigbo, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer at MTN Nigeria, remarked, “Nigeria is home to a wealth of young talent eager to drive change. The Nigeria PachiPanda Challenge offers an invaluable platform for these young visionaries to translate their creative ideas into practical solutions that can significantly improve our environmental landscape.”

Dr. Joseph Onoja, Director-General of NCF, added, “Partnerships are crucial for effective change. Our collaboration with MTN will amplify the impact of youth-led innovations, transforming them into actionable strategies that will help protect our environment for future generations.”

The Nigeria PachiPanda Challenge is more than just a competition; it is a movement designed to inspire participants to think creatively, develop solutions for pressing environmental issues, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of their communities.
