
Dr. Obadare Peter Adewale, Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Digital Encode Limited and a Forbes Best of Africa Outstanding Digital Trust Leader, has been appointed as Nigeria’s inaugural Professor of Practice in Cybersecurity at Miva Open University in Abuja. The appointment, announced in a letter dated July 1, 2024, was confirmed by the University’s Registrar, Iheanyi Akwitti.
The title of Professor of Practice is reserved for individuals with a distinguished career and significant professional achievements. This new role will leverage Dr. Obadare’s extensive industry experience and expertise to enhance the academic curriculum with practical insights into cybersecurity.
As the first Professor of Practice in Cybersecurity in Nigeria, Dr. Obadare will bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in the field of cybersecurity. His appointment promises to enrich Miva Open University’s curriculum by providing students with real-world experiences, networking opportunities with industry professionals, and skills relevant to current industry standards.
Dr. Obadare’s contributions will focus on areas such as vulnerability management, penetration testing, computer forensics, risk management, and compliance. His collaboration with Miva Open University is expected to strengthen the institution’s industry connections, enhance research and development, and drive curriculum innovation.

Dr. Obadare Peter Adewale is a prominent figure in the cybersecurity field, holding over 58 international professional certifications. He earned a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from Liverpool University, UK, and an Honorary Doctorate in Cybersecurity from Trinity International University of Ambassadors, Atlanta. His credentials include being a Fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS) and several other professional bodies, as well as holding numerous pioneering certifications in cybersecurity.
His career achievements include being the first PECB Certified Data Protection Officer and Lead Penetration Tester in Nigeria, among other distinctions. He also serves as a Cybersecurity Advisory Board Member for the Lagos State Government and is involved with various open-source security initiatives.
Dr. Obadare’s appointment at Miva Open University represents a significant step in integrating high-level industry expertise into academic settings, fostering a stronger connection between educational institutions and the cybersecurity industry.
