TECNO, a leading technology brand, has partnered with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to support the Nigeria Learning Passport, a comprehensive digital learning platform.

Launched in 2022 by the Federal Ministry of Education and UNICEF, the Nigeria Learning Passport provides curriculum-based materials in local languages, accessible both online and offline. This initiative is part of UNICEF’s global Learning Passport strategy, which began in 2018. The platform ensures quality education is accessible to all children, featuring a wide range of educational content from basic literacy to advanced skills training, along with professional development for educators.

Currently, the Nigeria Learning Passport has reached 19 states and boasts around 888,000 registered users, making it the second-largest among participating countries. TECNO’s partnership with UNICEF aims to further expand the reach and impact of the platform by enhancing content development, supporting technical equipment procurement, and offering more extensive training for teachers. In 2024, UNICEF plans to introduce offline content for 50,000 children in remote and underserved areas, aiming to bridge the educational gap and improve learning quality.

“We are excited to collaborate with TECNO to extend the Nigeria Learning Passport’s reach and effectiveness,” said Cristian Munduate, UNICEF Country Representative in Nigeria. “This partnership will help us deliver quality education to more children, particularly those in remote and underserved communities. Digital learning is a crucial tool for bridging educational disparities and ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed. With TECNO’s support, we are one step closer to making education accessible for all children in Nigeria, empowering them to build brighter futures.”

Jack Guo, General Manager of TECNO, added, “TECNO is committed to giving back to the communities where we operate. Investing in education is a key strategy for breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering social and economic development. Africa’s youth is the key to its future, and through the Learning Passport programme, we aim to provide Nigerian children with the education and opportunities they need to drive progress in Africa and beyond.”

By the end of 2023, the Learning Passport programme had expanded to 38 countries worldwide, with 6.02 million registered users and over 13,000 courses. The Project Management Institute recognized the Learning Passport as one of the 50 Most Influential Projects in 2020, and TIME named it one of the best 100 inventions in 2021.
