NASENI Launches Skill Acquisition Program in Ife to Boost Youth Employment with Modern Shoemaking and Tailoring Training

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has inaugurated a skill acquisition training program focused on modern shoemaking and tailoring for youths in Ife, Osun State.

This intensive three-day training commenced on Monday, July 8, 2024, and was concluded on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the NASENI Skill Acquisition Centre situated in Ife Federal Constituency, Osun State.

The program was officially launched by the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, who was represented by Engr. Dr. Olayode Adesola Olasupo, Director of Manufacturing Services at the Engineering Infrastructure Directorate. During the opening ceremony, Dr. Olasupo emphasized that the training is designed to provide participants with practical skills in modern tailoring and shoemaking techniques.

Mr. Halilu highlighted NASENI’s role as a Federal Government agency tasked with developing a robust Science and Engineering infrastructure to support home-grown and sustainable industrialization in Nigeria.

“To fulfill this mandate, we need to focus on critical skill development. This is why we are establishing NASENI Skill Acquisition Centres across the country. I am pleased to announce that the NASENI Skill Acquisition Centre in Ife Federal Constituency is the first of its kind in Osun State,” he said.

He further noted that the training aligns with the Federal Government of Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to combat poverty, stimulate economic growth, and create job opportunities.
