The MTN Foundation has officially opened applications for its 2024 Scholarship Programme, aimed at supporting Nigerian students in their academic journeys. This year’s programme continues the Foundation’s dedication to fostering educational excellence and inclusivity through three specialised scholarship tracks.

The scholarships available include:

  1. STEM Scholarships: Targeted at students pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
  2. Scholarships for Blind Students: Designed to support visually impaired students, with a notable increase in the number of awards from 60 to 100, reflecting the Foundation’s commitment to inclusivity.
  3. UTME Top 10 Scholarships: Awarded to the top 10 scoring candidates in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), across various disciplines.

The MTN Foundation’s Scholarship Programme provides recipients with sustained financial assistance and capacity-building opportunities throughout their academic careers, contingent on maintaining a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5.

Odunayo Sanya, Executive Director of the MTN Foundation, emphasized the Foundation’s mission during the announcement: “Education is pivotal for national progress, and the MTN Foundation is unwavering in its commitment to empowering every Nigerian student to achieve academic excellence. By expanding scholarship opportunities, particularly for blind students, we’re making a strategic investment not just in individuals, but in cultivating a more inclusive and diverse generation of leaders and innovators who will shape a better future for Nigeria.”

Since its inception in 2010, the MTN Scholarship Programme has supported 4,949 Nigerian students, providing essential financial resources that enable them to pursue their academic ambitions and contribute to the nation’s development. The expansion in scholarships for blind students underscores the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to create equitable opportunities for all.

Eligible candidates are encouraged to apply online at mtn.ng/scholarships before the deadline on June 12, 2024.
