The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) have announced a strategic collaboration aimed at improving processes related to the National Identification Number (NIN)-SIM linkage.
Amidst growing national discourse on the importance of aligning SIM registrations with individuals’ unique national identification numbers, NIMC and NCC are committed to enhancing security and service delivery through streamlined procedures.
Key areas of collaboration include:
- Streamlining the NIN-SIM Linkage Process: NIMC and NCC will ensure a seamless experience for Nigerian telecommunication subscribers, exploring innovative approaches to swift verification and authentication of NINs during SIM registration and activation.
- Capacity Building and Public Awareness: Both agencies will conduct educational campaigns and training sessions to enhance public awareness and understanding of the linkage requirements.
- Data Verification and Validation: NIMC will assist NCC in verifying NINs associated with SIM registrations, leveraging its robust database and authentication infrastructure to validate submitted NINs and ensure data accuracy.
