A new social media messaging app called LovableVibes has been introduced in Nigeria, aiming to provide secure communication and privacy for users. Developed by Austin Daniels, also known as Lovable, a Nigerian entrepreneur, LovableVibes aims to offer a locally-relevant platform that meets the needs of African users.
Recognizing that Nigerians heavily rely on foreign messaging apps that lack local content, Lovable saw an opportunity to create LovableVibes as a secure messenger that Africans could proudly call their own. Drawing inspiration from successful messaging apps in countries like China, Japan, Korea, and India, Lovable aimed to bridge the gap and position Africa at par with the international community.
The key focus of LovableVibes is user privacy. The app offers features such as hiding and locking individual chats, storing files in bucket cloud storage rather than the user’s phone, and ensuring the safety of files even if the user’s phone is stolen. In addition, LovableVibes utilizes Google Cloud buckets, which encrypt data on the server side to provide an extra layer of security.
Theresa Moses, the spokesperson for the app developer, highlighted the app’s end-to-end encryption, community-building capabilities, and features such as sharing photos, videos, and audio calls. LovableVibes also enables group chats of up to 500 members, with plans to upgrade to 1,000 members. The app includes stickers, file exchanges up to 60MB, and aims to compete with popular platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Twitter.
Moses emphasized that the app offers an admin panel for the team to use, but they cannot see users’ chat conversations or delete content without proper reporting and confirmation. LovableVibes aims to address misinformation and fake news by taking down reported content once confirmed as false or inappropriate.
Since its launch on April 18th, 2023, LovableVibes has gained popularity not only in Nigeria but also in countries like the United Kingdom, India, Germany, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Australia, Italy, Congo, and the Bahamas. The app is available for download on both Google Play and the App Store, catering to Android and Apple phone users.
LovableVibes boasts several unique features, including a clean user interface, the ability to see device contacts, one-to-one chats without saving numbers, status indicators (online, last seen, typing), video and audio calling, call logs, unseen message counts, media sharing, document sharing, location sharing, GIF sharing from the GIPHY gallery, customizable wallpapers, private and group chat options, end-to-end encryption, and more.
The developer plans to introduce further updates and features, promising to revolutionize the concept of status views and enhance the user interface in the near future. LovableVibes aims to establish itself as a trusted and preferred social media messaging app for users seeking enhanced privacy and secure communication.
