Just In: Two Nigerian start-ups have qualified for the 2022 GITEX Expo Pitch Competition finals.

At the current GITEX 2022, two tech start-ups from Nigeria have advanced to the Supernova Challenge Pitch Competition final.

The two Nigerian start-ups who won the competition were among the nine that initially advanced to the semifinal stage, according to a report released on Monday.

In addition, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami), Minister of Communications and Digital Economy announced during the opening of Nigeria’s exhibition pavilion at the Dubai World Trade Centre that nine Nigerian tech start-ups and innovators had secured spots in the semi-final round of the GITEX tech-invention competition.

He said: “I am confident that the four Nigerian start-ups and innovators will surely give their foreign counterparts a run for their money. And will cart away the prizes at stake, during the grand finale of the exhibition”.

The Nigerian start-ups to compete for the gold position in the Supernova Challenge Pitch Competition are FLOEWS and ShapShap.

Another start-up from Kenya, Melanin Kapital, is the other African representative in the final of the ‘Mobility and Smart Cities Innovator’ category, which the Nigerian tech firms qualified for.

The GITEX event is currently holding at the Dubai World Trade Centre, in United Arab Emirates, UAE.
