Commemorates International Nelson Mandela Day
MTN Nigeria Communications Plc has relaunched its flagship employee volunteer program, Y’ello Care, with interventions centered on “Empowering Communities to Drive Economic Recovery.”
This campaign aims to upskill local communities through digital skills training and development, thereby increasing economic activity and participation. It contributes to the implementation of MTN’s Ambition 2025 strategy, particularly the strategic priority of fostering digital skills for job creation in Nigeria.
Following the opening ceremony on July 18 at MTN Nigeria’s Head Office in Falomo, Ikoyi, MTN Nigeria employees joined the South African High Commission on a visit to the Halal Children’s Home in Life Camp, Abuja, in commemoration of the United Nations (UN) International Nelson Mandela Day.
Encouraging MTNers to participate in this year’s campaign, Chief Corporate Services Officer, MTN Nigeria, Tobechukwu Okigbo asked employees to “Commit to doing the right thing for communities, focusing on impact, to support this year’s theme.”
“We understand the transformative power of digital innovation and are constantly on the lookout to connect people with opportunities,” said Odunayo Sanya, Executive Secretary, MTN Foundation. This year, our goal with Y’ello Care initiatives is to foster more of these connections in order to create long-term change.
“We want to get more MTNers out there to help pave the way for new opportunities under this strategic direction,” she said.
MTN employees have been involved in charitable activities for the benefit of the communities in which they work since the company’s inception in 2007. Y’ello Care projects include the establishment of e-Libraries in secondary schools, ICT and business skills programs, and career development training for Nigerian youth.
