This year’s Beacon of Information and Communication Technology (BoICT) awards/lecture series, which will take place on May 28, will focus on the Impact of Blockchain Technology in a Digitalized Nigeria.
The BoICT Distinguished Lecture Series, now in its 13th year, is largely recognized as the most prominent annual event accessible in Nigeria’s ICT business.
The theme for this year is “The Impact of Blockchain Technology on a Digitalized Nigeria.” Blockchain technology has the potential to disrupt digital interaction in our economy and society as Nigeria transitions to a digital economy. Startups and incumbents alike are driving the technology’s quick and dynamic technical development, resulting in a plethora of applications across economic and societal areas.
Mr Ken Nwogbo, chief executive officer and editor in chief of Communication Week Media Limited, and the lecture’s organizers stated that the issue was chosen based on the potential of the new technological paradigm that has not yet reached broader public debate for economic and societal advancement.
“Distributed ledger technologies and blockchains are the results of an idealistic open-source movement that facilitates asset exchange via a supplementary technology layer on top of the internet.”
“The lecture is followed by an awards ceremony that rewards best practices and recognizes outstanding contributions to the advancement of the ICT sector,” Nwogbo stated.
