Nigeria Volunteers Network Launches ‘17 Stories’ Campaign To Drive Progress On SDGs

The Nigeria Volunteers Network (NVN) with the support of the United Nations Information Center (UNIC) Nigeria and Ewalewa Gallery launched the 17 Stories campaign to raise awareness on the need for action on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The official launch took place at the Ewalewa Gallery, Lagos, Nigeria.

17 Stories is a Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Action Campaign. The Action campaign introduces the SDGs stories in a dynamic style with a focus on education and motivation as a key approach.

The Nigeria Volunteers Network (NVN) is a non-governmental organization initiated to provide the much needed support platform for volunteers across the thirty six states and Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria championing the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals.

According to the Project Lead, Vincent Odigie “each of the 17 sustainable development goals tells a unique story that needs to be heard, and we are positioned to ensure that these stories get to communities and schools across Nigeria”.

Also speaking, the chairman of the local organizing committee (LOC), Godwin Okhawere says “the SDG stories need to be heard, so people can get involved. Our goal with this project is to inspire and motivate young people with stories that enable them envision a sustainable, just, and favourable future, he emphasised.”

Also in attendance were Bolanle Olumekor, the Knowledge Management Assistant from the United Nations Information Center (UNIC), Nigeria; Femi Williams, Curator at the Ewalewa Gallery, students from MorretteVille Schools and other participants.

The Nigeria Volunteer Network hopes to partner with different organizations on the 17 Stories project to sensitize communities and schools on the need to build a sustainable driven world.
