Detectives from Osun State Police Command are now on the trail of gunmen who abducted two Chinese nationals on Easter Monday at Okepa/Itikan Village gold mining site in Ifewara, Osun State.

The foreigners Messrs Zhao Juan (33 years) and Wen (50 years) were said to have been abducted from the mining site at about 4pm on Monday after two private security guards working with them were shot by a gang of gunmen.

It was gathered that soon as information about the incident got to security agencies, the State Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode immediately drafted a strong combined reinforcement of Police Tactical units, JTF, and other security outfits who have embarked on search/rescue operation of the two abducted Chinese persons and possible arrest of all the fleeing criminals.

The two private security guards were reportedly not dead but had been taken to the hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

The Osun Police Relations Officer, SP Opalola Yemisi Olawoyin

in a statement on Tuesday said the Commissioner has enjoined members of the public to support, co-operate, and collaborate with the Police in fighting crime to bring it down to the barest minimum, by providing  creditable and prompt information as he promised to rescue the abductees unhurt.
