Moving a step ahead and creating awareness campaign, the Managing Director of the Lagos State Waste Management Agency, LAWMA, Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni, is inviting all stakeholders both in the public and private establishments, Estate Managers, Recyclers and everyone interested in the business of recycling to a one day virtual interactions.

In a statement made available to Western Post, the Management of LAWMA, the online meeting themed ‘ Morning Chats with the MD/CEO LAWMA, Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni,’ slated to hold on Thursday  11, February 2021, will address all issues on recycling while providing answers to all questions that will raised.

LAWMA under the leadership of Mr. Odunmboni launched the Lagos Recycling Initiative in the fourth quarter of 2020 as the Smart Waste Collection Technology for cleaner Lagos, the first in this part of the world, to find a lasting solution to all issues of recycling in the state.

The essential agency has consistently in various innovative ways emphasised on waste sorting from source and recycling of reusable waste materials such as plastics e.t.c for a very long time, and believe the time to accelerate the campaign is now. The Lagos Recycling Initiative, which is COVID-19  compliant  thus limiting person to person contact, has the capability to generate over 6000 job opportunities, the agency says.

Recall that in September 2019, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu launched the blue box initiative to tackle first-hand the issue of waste separation from source and recycling. While a lot of success has been achieved in that regard, it has become necessary to take it one step further in such a way to minimize person to person contact in line with the COVID-19 safety guideline as well as creating a path to financial independence and stability for thousands of people who are ready to key into the initiative while drastically reducing the number of recyclable plastics bottles and other recyclables that end up in the drainage systems and canals.
