In celebration of academic achievement and determination, the CMS Girls’ Old Students Association Class of ’85 recently organized a Scholarship and Awards Ceremony at the school premises in Akoka. The event brought together the school’s principal, vice principal, staff members, parents of awardees, distinguished guests, members of the Class of ‘85, and deserving scholarship and award recipients.
The keynote address delivered by Princess ‘Dayo Odukoya, the Chairperson of the Scholarship and Award Committee. Odukoya emphasized that these scholarships aimed to do more than acknowledge academic excellence; “It is about fostering a culture of commitment to education, igniting a flame of passion for learning that will continue to burn brightly in the hearts of our recipients for years to come,” she said.
“Education is the cornerstone of progress and empowerment,” Odukoya affirmed. Today, as we award these scholarships, Bursary, and prize giving, we are not just merely granting financial aid, we are investing in a better tomorrow and making dreams come true”, she added.
Prof. Risi Dauda, the President of the Class of ’85, echoed this sentiment in her opening remarks, emphasizing the lasting impact the group aimed to have on the lives of current students. She urged students to honor the sacrifices made by their parents, ensuring that the seed of greatness planted by the association would flourish.
Mrs. Folashade Kadiri, a former student of the school and the special guest of honor, congratulated the scholarship and bursary awardees. She encouraged them to excel in their studies, stand out wherever life took them, and become proud ambassadors of the school. Kadiri expressed gratitude to parents for investing in their children’s education, hailing it as a commendable step forward.
The Principal of CMS Girls Senior Grammar School, (name), extended appreciation to the Class of ‘85 for their continual support and commitment to giving back to the school. She urged them to continue their impactful contributions.
The ceremony reached its pinnacle with the presentation of cheques to around 20 deserving students across various award categories. The event concluded on a high note, marking a significant milestone in the journey of these students towards a brighter and more promising future
