The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has announced temporary service adjustments on the Lagos Rail Mass Transit network to accommodate the large crowds expected for The Experience 2025, the annual Christian concert set to hold this weekend at Tafawa Balewa Square.
In a statement issued by its Head of Corporate Communication, Kolawole Ojelabi, the authority said the changes were approved to manage the heavy movement anticipated before and after the event, which attracts hundreds of thousands of worshippers every year.
As part of the adjustment, the Blue Line will operate well beyond its regular hours on Friday, December 5, with trains scheduled to run until 11:43 pm, instead of the usual 9:30 pm close. Service will also begin much earlier on Saturday, December 6, starting at 4:00 am and continuing throughout the day until 9:30 pm, to support early-morning travel and return trips after the programme.
LAMATA confirmed that the Red Line will stick to its normal timetable on Friday, maintaining both its morning peak window of 6:00 am to 10:00 am and its evening peak hours of 5:20 pm to 8:40 pm. As usual, the Red Line will not operate on Saturday.
The agency noted that all operations across both lines will return to their standard schedule from Sunday, December 7.
Residents were reminded that access to the trains remains strictly via the Cowry Card system. LAMATA urged passengers to plan their trips, follow station instructions, and cooperate with transit officials to ensure a smooth and safe commuting experience throughout the event weekend.
The Experience, held every first Friday in December, has grown into one of the world’s largest gospel concerts, with a global livestream audience complementing the massive turnout at its Lagos venue each year.
