The internet has become a part of our daily lives, from chatting with friends and paying bills to working, learning, and shopping. But as we enjoy the ease of digital life, lurking in the background are growing dangers, hackers, scammers, and cybercriminals waiting for a single careless click.
That’s why the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is using this Cybersecurity Awareness Month to send a clear message: your safety online begins with you.
NITDA says everyone can play their part in building a safer digital Nigeria by adopting simple, everyday cyber hygiene habits, like setting strong, unique passwords, turning on two-factor authentication, updating devices regularly, and thinking twice before clicking on unfamiliar links or sharing sensitive information.
This year’s theme, “Cyber Hygiene for a Safer Tomorrow,” is more than a slogan, it’s a reminder that one person’s caution can protect many. When we secure our own devices, we also protect our families, workplaces, and the larger online community.
NITDA is calling on all Nigerians to stay alert and take small, deliberate steps that make a big difference. Because a safer digital tomorrow begins with the choices we make today.
