The statement claims that the officer who fired the weapon and other members of his team have been placed under arrest. The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal inquiry Department (SCID) has been instructed by Commissioner of Police Johnson Adenola to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the situation.
Assuring the public that the investigation will be open and its conclusions made public, Osifeso stated, “The officer involved is cooperating fully with the investigation.” Officers allegedly tried to stop Kehinde’s father, Odunayo Alade, who was allegedly driving against the flow of traffic in a black Honda Accord with the registration number FST 639 JJ.
The teenage youngster was tragically struck by a police pistol that was shot during the confrontation. According to the statement, the driver allegedly rushed toward the enforcement team in an attempt to avoid arrest, colliding with two OYTMA cars and a police Buffalo Patrol Truck instead of following legal instructions.
“Barricades were erected to demobilize the escaping vehicle in an attempt to stop additional damage and injury to officers and other road users.
He said, “But the driver apparently managed to get past these barriers, continuing to drive carelessly and putting lives in danger.” Osifeso confirmed that officers feared possible criminal activity or a case of kidnapping based on the driver’s behavior.
“A police chase ensued, and a police corporal fired a gun at the tires in an effort to immobilize the vehicle.” Kehinde Alade “m,” who was sitting in the back seat behind the driver, was tragically hit by the gunshot that missed. He claimed, “He was taken right away to the University College Hospital (UCH), where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.” The spokesperson stated that the deceased’s remains has been placed in the mortuary of Adeoyo State Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
