MTN Nigeria has received approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for the renewal and alignment of its 800MHz spectrum licences, ensuring sustained connectivity and improved service delivery for millions of customers.
The renewal covers two licences within the 800MHz spectrum. The first licence (Channel 1) has been extended for a 10-year period, from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2034. The second licence (Channel 2) has been aligned with this timeline through a four-year extension, setting its new expiry date to match Channel 1’s on December 31, 2034.
This harmonisation simplifies future renewal processes and underscores MTN Nigeria’s commitment to delivering high-quality data services. Karl Toriola, CEO of MTN Nigeria, expressed gratitude to the NCC for its support, highlighting the critical role of the 800MHz spectrum in enhancing connectivity across the nation.
