ALX, Africa’s top tech career accelerator, recently marked a major milestone with the graduation of over 2,800 learners from across the continent, including over 800 Nigerians. The graduates, who completed the Data Science program, came from countries such as Ghana, South Africa, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Morocco, and Egypt. In Nigeria, the ceremony was held at the ALX hub in Lagos, where parents and guardians gathered to celebrate the achievements of their loved ones.
The Data Science program began with a two-month ALX Foundations course, which equipped learners with critical communication, leadership, and career-building skills. Following this foundational training, the learners delved into Data Science, covering key areas such as spreadsheets, statistics, data modeling, SQL, Power BI, Python, and cloud computing.
The graduates are set to make significant contributions to the tech industry, having gained the necessary skills to lead in their fields. They also serve as role models for others in the ALX community, inspiring fellow learners as they begin their own journeys in tech.
At the event, ALX Nigeria’s Country General Manager, Ruby Igwe, praised the graduates’ commitment, stating, “The success of our first Data Science cohort is a testament to the potential of our young population. These graduates have shown exceptional dedication and have gained the skills to drive innovation in the tech industry. We are excited to see how they will impact Africa and beyond.”
