The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary traffic diversion at the Ikeja Along bus stop, specifically between Ile Zik and the Conoil Petrol Station, on the Oshodi-bound lane. The diversion will take place from Saturday to Sunday, between 12:00 midnight and 4:00 a.m. daily. This measure is to facilitate the demolition of the old pedestrian bridge by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed the plan in a statement, explaining that only one lane would be accessible to motorists on the Oshodi-bound side of the road from Ile Zik to the Conoil Petrol Station to ensure safety during the demolition process.
The commissioner noted that the diversion would not impact motorists on the Dopemu/Abule Egba-bound side of the road. To manage vehicular movement and minimize disruptions, personnel from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be deployed on-site.
Osiyemi urged the public to cooperate during the demolition period, emphasizing that safety measures, including the use of jersey barriers and protective nets, will be in place to secure motorists and commuters.
