Following the resignation of the former CEO, John Ugbe, MultiChoice Nigeria has announced in a statement that Kemi Omotosho would take over as CEO.
After over 15 years, Ugbe, who led the company through major changes in Nigeria’s media and entertainment sector, managing a swift digital change, shifting consumer behavior, and escalating competition in the pay-TV and streaming industries, had resigned. Omotosho’s appointment was said to take effect in January 2026, signaling a change in leadership at the pay-TV provider.
Over twenty years of experience in media, telecommunications, and digital services in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa are brought to the table by Omotosho. Executive Head of Customer Value Management in Nigeria and Group Executive Head of Customer Value Management for the Rest of Africa are some of the senior positions she has held within the MultiChoice Group. She most recently held the position of Regional Director for Southern Africa, where she oversaw operations in seven different nations.
In response to her appointment, Omotosho stated that Nigeria was an important market for the Group and that she was honored to take the helm of the company at this crucial juncture. In her statement, she said, “I look forward to working with our teams and partners to build a future-ready organization that delivers sustainable value, strengthen our relationship with consumers, and support local storytelling and the creative economy.”
In order to maintain continuity and stability in its operations in Nigeria, the company indicated that a planned transition process was followed during the leadership shift.
