The Nigeria Customs Service has rolled out a new Standard Operating Procedure aimed at regulating courier companies that operate under the Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) Incoterm, as part of efforts to improve efficiency and accountability in the logistics sector.
The Service disclosed this in a statement released on Monday by its National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, a Deputy Comptroller of Customs. According to him, the new procedure establishes a clear and uniform system that guides courier operations from start to finish.
Under the framework, courier companies will be required to follow standardized processes covering registration, submission of shipment manifests, goods declaration, valuation, clearance, final delivery, and ongoing compliance monitoring. Maiwada noted that the initiative aligns Nigeria’s courier operations with global best practices while strengthening regulatory oversight.
He added that the move is expected to enhance transparency, ensure proper revenue collection, and create a more structured operating environment for courier businesses across the country.
