The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has unveiled a new Inter-Agency Innovation Competition and Awards, designed to spark creativity, deepen collaboration, and promote a culture of innovation across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government.
The initiative aligns with NASENI’s mandate to build and sustain a strong science and engineering base that supports indigenous industrialisation, creates jobs, and drives national development. By focusing on public-sector innovation, the agency is looking to tap into the ideas and expertise of civil servants to solve real-world problems facing the country.
Through the competition, MDAs are invited to develop and submit practical, technology-driven solutions that can improve public service delivery and respond to national challenges. Priority areas include health, agriculture, education, and infrastructure, with an emphasis on the use of science and engineering to deliver measurable impact and improve the everyday lives of Nigerians.
NASENI says the programme is not just about recognition, but about building a pipeline of workable ideas that can be scaled and adopted across government. It also provides a platform for inter-agency collaboration, encouraging institutions to share knowledge and co-create solutions rather than operate in silos.
MDAs interested in participating can submit their entries via NASENI’s official innovation portal. The agency has called on public institutions to take advantage of the opportunity and be part of a growing movement to reposition Nigeria through homegrown innovation.
By mobilising creativity within government, NASENI believes the competition will help unlock Nigeria’s vast potential and reinforce the role of science and technology in shaping a more efficient, resilient, and prosperous nation.
