The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has once again placed the spotlight on excellence, rewarding outstanding members of its workforce at a productivity awards ceremony held at its Ijora-Olopa headquarters. The event delivered more than recognition, as a corps member received automatic employment, while several temporary staff were upgraded to full-time roles.
Designed to acknowledge dedication, professionalism, and consistent service, the ceremony brought together management and staff from across LAWMA’s departments and operational districts.

Addressing the gathering, LAWMA’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, praised the awardees for their commitment and resilience in sustaining environmental cleanliness across Lagos. He described the recognition as both appreciation and reassurance of management’s commitment to staff welfare.
According to him, excellence thrives where hard work is valued and rewarded. He encouraged employees to remain focused, disciplined, and ethical in their duties, noting that positive attitudes and integrity are key drivers of long-term success in the workplace.

Dr. Gbadegesin also reaffirmed that the Best Staff Award initiative would remain a continuous feature, reflecting LAWMA’s resolve to motivate and retain dedicated personnel.
In her remarks, the Head of Administration and Human Resources, Ms. Zakinat Ranti Dosunmu, said the ceremony was intended to inspire greater efficiency and accountability among staff. She stressed that commitment to duty and professionalism would always attract recognition.

Award winners, drawn from senior, junior, and project staff categories, received plaques and gift items in appreciation of their exceptional contributions to the agency’s operations.
Closing the event, the Executive Director, Mr. Kunle Adebiyi, congratulated the honourees and urged them to see the awards as a challenge to raise the bar even higher. He assured staff that the culture of recognising excellence would be sustained, encouraging everyone to remain dedicated and consistent in their service.
