MTN Nigeria Reports Strong Performance in 9-Month 2025 Financial Results

MTN Nigeria has announced an impressive set of financial results for the nine months ending 30 September 2025, reflecting significant growth across key performance indicators and reaffirming its position as a market leader in the telecoms sector.

The company recorded robust subscriber growth, with its total base rising by 11% to reach 85.4 million. Active data users followed suit, climbing 12.8% to 51.1 million, as more Nigerians embraced digital connectivity and mobile broadband services.

MTN’s service revenue surged 57.5% year-on-year to ₦3.7 trillion, while EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation, and Amortization) soared by 123% to ₦1.9 trillion, reflecting enhanced operational efficiency and disciplined cost management. The EBITDA margin expanded by 15.1 percentage points to 51.4%, underlining stronger profitability.

A major turnaround was seen in bottom-line performance, with Profit After Tax (PAT) jumping 245.7% to ₦750.2 billion, a significant rebound from a loss of ₦514.9 billion recorded in the same period last year. This translated into earnings per share (EPS) of ₦35.77, compared to a negative ₦24.51 in 9M 2024.

MTN Nigeria also reported positive retained earnings of ₦142.7 billion and shareholders’ equity of ₦293.1 billion, marking a return to solid balance sheet fundamentals.

The company increased its capital expenditure (excluding leases) by 248% to ₦757.4 billion, reflecting accelerated network investments in the first half of the year to enhance service quality and coverage. Meanwhile, free cash flow rose by 38.5% to ₦742.6 billion, further strengthening liquidity.

In line with its strong financial performance, MTN Nigeria declared an interim dividend of ₦5.00 per share, signaling confidence in its growth outlook and continued value creation for shareholders.
