TCN: Brace for the Blackout

A four-day blackout has been declared in Lekki, Ikoyi, Jakande, and the neighboring areas of Lagos State by the Transmission Company of Nigeria.
In a statement posted on X on Wednesday, TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah revealed this information.
Expected to occur on October 11, 12, 18, and 19, 2025, the outage would run for eight hours every day. TCN says the planned outage is because of preventive maintenance on its 330 kV transmission line between Ajah and Lekki on October 11, 2025, and between Ajah and Alagbon on October 12, 18, and 19, 2025. “During this time, we sincerely regret any inconvenience this may have caused to electricity users in Lekki, Ikoyi, Jakande, and the surrounding areas,” TCN said.

TCN says the planned outage is because of preventive maintenance on its 330 kV transmission line between Ajah and Lekki on October 11, 2025, and between Ajah and Alagbon on October 12, 18, and 19, 2025. “TCN’s contractor will be able to install a transformer protective system on the 300MVA 330/132/33kV power transformer at the Alagbon Transmission Substation thanks to the maintenance on the Ajah/Lekki 330kV line.” The Ajah/Alagbon and Ajah/Lekki 330 kV transmission lines’ crucial towers will also have their corroded insulators replaced by TCN’s maintenance team. Therefore, on October 11, 2025, the Ajah/Lekki 330 kV line will experience an 8-hour outage from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and on October 12, 18, and 19, 2025, the Ajah/Alagbon 330 kV line will experience an 8-hour outage from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
