The MTN Foundation, in collaboration with the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON), has officially opened applications for the 2025/2026 edition of the MTN MUSON Music Scholars Programme. The initiative continues the Foundation’s mission to support emerging Nigerian musical talents and strengthen the country’s creative and cultural industries.

The scholarship offers full funding for a diploma in music at the prestigious MUSON School of Music in Lagos. It covers tuition, textbooks, and transportation, giving aspiring musicians the opportunity to receive world-class training without financial burden.

Over the years, the programme has produced a wealth of accomplished graduates who have gone on to make significant contributions to the music industry in Nigeria and beyond.

Odunayo Sanya, Executive Director of the MTN Foundation, highlighted the impact of the initiative: “We are proud of our enduring relationship with MUSON and the remarkable achievements of the young people who have benefited from this programme. At MTN, we’re committed to nurturing talent and empowering the next generation through quality education in the arts.”

The programme features an intensive curriculum designed to shape students into versatile and skilled musicians. Interested applicants have until August 25, 2025, to submit their applications. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for auditions and interviews at MUSON Centre in Lagos.

To be eligible, applicants must have:

  • A Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or General Certificate of Education (GCE) with at least five credits, including English Language.

  • A music certificate (both theory and practical) from a recognized body such as MUSON, ABRSM, or Trinity, with at least a Grade 5 pass.

Applicants who possess strong practical skills but fall short in music theory may still be considered, provided they take a remedial theory course in their first year and pass the required exam.
