The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has officially commissioned its state-of-the-art Digital Industrial Park (DIP) in Kano State, a strategic move aimed at accelerating digital innovation, job creation, and youth development in Northern Nigeria.
The commissioning ceremony, held on Tuesday, July 2, 2025, attracted high-profile dignitaries, including the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida; the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani; the Minister of Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande; the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam; and the Jarman Kano, Ambassador Ahmed Umar.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Maida described the Digital Industrial Park as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s digital economy agenda, designed to support startups, tech entrepreneurs, and digital service providers with world-class infrastructure and enabling tools.
“This Park is more than just a facility, it’s a launchpad for innovation, collaboration, and sustainable economic development,” Maida stated. “We envision it as a hub where youth and businesses in Northern Nigeria can thrive in the digital economy.”
In his remarks, Dr. Tijani praised the NCC for its foresight and execution, noting that the project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for inclusive digital transformation across the country.
“The Digital Industrial Park in Kano is a model for what we want to replicate nationwide, inclusive access to digital tools that empower young people, drive local content, and grow our GDP,” the Minister said.
Also speaking, Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, emphasized the park’s potential to provide life-changing opportunities for young Nigerians. “This facility provides a fertile ground for skills development, youth-led innovation, and scalable digital ventures,” he said.
The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam, welcomed the initiative and assured continued support from the state government. He lauded the NCC’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and enhancing regional development.
The newly commissioned Digital Industrial Park is part of a nationwide initiative by the NCC to establish technology parks across Nigeria’s geo-political zones, with the goal of fostering innovation, job creation, and digital inclusion.
