Dauda Lawal, the fifth civilian governor of Zamfara State, has stated that he will continue to serve in the People’s Democratic Party.
Bello Matawalle, the previous governor and Minister of State for Defense, urged the governor to join the All Progressives Congress, and the decision was made in response.
Mustafa Kaura, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Communications, told The PUNCH over the phone that Lawal had since stated that he would not leave the party that provided him with the ticket to run for governor in 2023.
“There have been rumors going around that Governor Dauda Lawal intends to leave the PDP and join the APC.” This has not a shred of truth. Therefore, I would like the PDP supporters to ignore this. “Governor Dauda Lawal has no plans to join any other party and will stay in the PDP. Regardless of the party he belongs to, he is a sincere believer who holds that whatever God has planned must come to pass. Matawalle had urged the governor to join the APC in a statement released in Gusau on Sunday by Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara, the former Commissioner for Information.
The minister made the call on Saturday while thousands of fans paid him a tribute in honor of Sallah at his home in his hometown of Maradun.
He encouraged Lawal to join the progressives for the state’s advancement, encouraging him to join the APC openly rather than covertly.
According to Matawalle, Dauda Lawal need to join the APC instead of continuing to play hide-and-seek. The minister gave Lawal the assurance that he had no ill will toward him and that he was welcome to join the cozy APC. In addition, Matawalle asked Lawal to join the APC, which he called the leader in security, advancement, developments, peace, and tranquility.
Additionally, he ordered the governor to provide basic infrastructure and developmental projects throughout the state in order to justify the enormous federal payments.
According to the minister, President Bola Tinubu is a competent manager of peace and tranquility and a progressive leader.
He declared, “President Tinubu is focused on the country’s development and welcomes everyone who wants to follow in his footsteps of peace, harmony, growth, and development.”
The minister called on the state’s APC members to back the president, especially in the fields of economic development, social welfare, health, agriculture, and security.
He claimed that the president had Zamfara’s best interests at heart and was constantly hoping to improve the country’s current state of economic hardship and insecurity.
The minister recalled how the government recently killed a number of terrorists who had previously terrorized the state, the surrounding area, and the nation as a whole, along with their foot troops.
According to Matawalle, the security high commands and the Ministry of Defense were figuring out ways to guarantee that the presidential orders to expel terrorists and criminals from the nation were followed.
