Seven weeks after their appointment on April 2, 2025, President Bola Tinubu has sworn in the board and administration of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.
At a short ceremony on Thursday afternoon at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, Ahmadu Kida, the board’s non-executive chairman, and Bashir Ojulari, the group chief executive officer of NNPCL, were sworn in. The President of the federal republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu then went to the State House Banquet Hall for the All Progressives Congress National Summit.
The North Central is represented by Babs Omotowa, a former Managing Director of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas; the North West is represented by Adedapo Segun and Bello Rabiu; and the North East is represented by Yusuf Usman. The South-South’s non-executive director, Austin Avuru, the South-West’s David Ige, and the South-East’s Henry Obih are also on the board.Aminu Ahmed will represent the Ministry of Petroleum Resources on the board, and Lydia Jafiya, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance, will represent the ministry.Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil); Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation; and Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, were among the top government officials who attended the swearing-in. The board members are expected to resume office very soon, this hasten method was carried out by the president after his travel to vetican city, Hopefully this gesture shows Nigerians that he is indeed pasionate about working for the goodwill of the people of Nigeria.
