The Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) has partnered with MTN Nigeria to launch *7270#, a dedicated USSD code designed to improve access to key capital market services for Nigerian investors.
Announced on Monday, the mobile service is scheduled to go live on May 8, 2025, and will enable investors to retrieve their Clearing House Numbers (CHN), check Direct Cash Settlement (DCS) status, view stock holdings, and confirm account balances—all without the need for internet connectivity.
The innovation marks a strategic move to promote financial inclusion, leveraging MTN Nigeria’s broad network infrastructure to deliver real-time access to investment information even in areas with limited data access.
Initially available to MTN subscribers, the service is expected to roll out on other mobile networks in the near future.
Speaking on the launch, Haruna Jalo-Waziri, Managing Director/CEO of CSCS, said the initiative reflects the organization’s commitment to breaking barriers in the investment ecosystem. “This is a game-changer in providing inclusive, low-barrier access to vital investment information for all investors, regardless of location or digital literacy,” he said.
Aisha Mumuni, Chief Digital Officer of MTN Nigeria, added that the service will significantly enhance investor experience and engagement. “This partnership is about empowering people through simplicity. With *7270#, MTN users can connect to the capital market more easily, helping more Nigerians take control of their financial futures.”
The launch aligns with CSCS’s broader efforts to leverage technology in transforming Nigeria’s capital market, making it more transparent, accessible, and inclusive.
