The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has officially launched the NIN Authentication (NINAuth) service, a state-of-the-art platform aimed at enhancing the security, privacy, and efficiency of identity verification across Nigeria.
This initiative, approved by the Federal Government and in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, mandates the use of NINAuth across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) for all identity verification and authentication processes. The platform supports Nigeria’s goal of creating a reliable and trusted digital identity system for its citizens and legal residents.
Dr. Kayode Adegoke, Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, confirmed that NINAuth integrates web, API, and mobile-based verification services, offering a secure and scalable solution for real-time National Identification Number (NIN) authentication. The platform is designed to simplify access to government services, protect data privacy, and promote transparency by ensuring explicit consent for the use of personal information in Know Your Customer (KYC) processes.
The NINAuth service will also enhance service delivery across public and private sectors by enabling seamless identity validation and supporting database harmonization in compliance with the National Identity Policy.
This new system is now the official platform for all NIN-based verification, providing a secure, interoperable, and user-friendly interface for individuals and institutions alike. The launch of NINAuth marks a significant step in Nigeria’s drive to bolster digital identity management, ensuring greater autonomy and trust in the nation’s digital infrastructure.
