The 72nd birthday of Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr., Chairman of Globacom and one of Africa’s most influential entrepreneurs, has drawn glowing tributes from two prominent African leaders — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria and former President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana.

In heartfelt messages, both leaders commended Dr. Adenuga for his trailblazing achievements in business and his instrumental role in shaping the economic fortunes of Nigeria, Ghana, and the wider continent.

President Mahama praised the business titan as “a shining example of vision, resilience, and extraordinary accomplishment.” He emphasized that through sheer determination and innovation, Dr. Adenuga has built powerful brands that have impacted lives and economies, adding that his philanthropy and leadership continue to inspire a new generation of African entrepreneurs.

President Tinubu, in his own tribute, highlighted Dr. Adenuga’s remarkable journey across sectors such as telecommunications, oil and gas, and banking. He celebrated the Globacom founder’s pioneering spirit, especially his company’s introduction of per-second billing — a move that democratized access to telecommunication services in Nigeria.

“Conoil has shown that a homegrown Nigerian company can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with global oil giants, advancing our pursuit of energy independence,” President Tinubu stated.

The Nigerian president also applauded Dr. Adenuga’s bold expansion into other African markets and Europe — a vision that earned him prestigious honours including France’s Commander of the Legion of Honour and Ghana’s Companion of the Star of Ghana.

Both leaders noted that Dr. Adenuga’s life work exemplifies dedication to excellence, service to humanity, and the boundless potential of African enterprise.
