Fire Incident at Federal Ministry of Works Headquarters Quickly Contained

A fire broke out at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Works in Mabushi, Abuja, shortly after workers resumed duties on Friday. The fire, which started due to a spark from a faulty circuit breaker on the ground floor, was swiftly brought under control, preventing significant damage.

Mohammed A. Ahmed, the Director of Press and Public Relations for the Ministry, confirmed the incident, stating, “At 11:30 am, a minor fire incident occurred at Block A of the Ministry, caused by a spark from a faulty circuit breaker in the electrical control room on the ground floor.”

The prompt response of the Federal Fire Service played a crucial role in managing the situation. According to the Station Commander, Mr. Kekai Bekebi, his team quickly deployed fire extinguishers and successfully contained the fire. An evacuation drill was also conducted, ensuring the safety of all staff.

Mr. Aliyu Abdullahi, Director of Human Resource Management, confirmed that no documents were lost, and there were no injuries or casualties. He praised the staff for their orderly conduct during the incident.

Normal activities at the Ministry have since resumed, with maintenance staff clearing debris and restoring the affected area.
