The Lagos State Government is set to launch the second phase of its ‘Ounje Eko’ discount market initiative this weekend, with MoneyMaster Payment Service Bank (PSB) once again appointed as the official payment service provider for the scheme. The first phase of the initiative was successfully launched in March earlier this year.

‘Ounje Eko’ is a key program by the Lagos State Government designed to provide residents with affordable food items at a 25 percent discount. The second phase will begin on Sunday, September 1, and will be implemented across all 52 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State, as well as in five tertiary institutions.

MoneyMaster PSB, a Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)-licensed provider of digital financial services, has been recognized for its role in bridging the gap between the banked, underbanked, and unbanked populations. The bank’s successful execution of its duties in the first phase, characterized by secure and fast transaction processing, led to its retention for the second phase.

A government source highlighted the decision, stating, “MoneyMaster PSB has been selected again due to its robust payment and collection technology infrastructure, ensuring seamless transactions at Ounje Eko discount markets across the state.”

In response to the announcement, a spokesperson for MoneyMaster PSB expressed the company’s enthusiasm for the ongoing collaboration, saying, “We are thrilled to partner with the Lagos State Government in the second phase of the Ounje Eko discount markets, as this initiative aligns perfectly with our commitment to adding value to people’s lives.”

MoneyMaster PSB will continue to deploy its advanced payment solutions to ensure smooth payment processes for market patrons, providing real-time value and enhancing the overall shopping experience.
