On Thursday, the police in Borno reported that nine people were killed and twenty others injured following the detonation of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) by Boko Haram in Kawuri, located in the Konduga Local Government Area. The tragic incident occurred in a bustling marketplace at approximately 8 pm on Wednesday.
Commissioner of Police Yusuf Lawan disclosed the details in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri. He confirmed that response teams were rapidly deployed to the scene to evacuate the injured victims for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were transported to the Primary Health Care Centre.
Lawan stated that the Police Explosive Ordnance Device (EOD) team was dispatched to secure the area and prevent further bomb threats. He added that normalcy has been restored, with joint security teams remaining on high alert to ensure the safety of the community.
