Operatives from the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested three individuals—Odion Victor, Amos Godwin, and Ayomide Michael—on charges of impersonating Evangelist Chukwuebuka Obi of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach and using social media to defraud the public.
According to a statement released by the EFCC on Friday, the arrests were made following credible intelligence. The suspects allegedly cloned the social media accounts of Evangelist Ebuka Obi, deceiving his followers into transferring money for various fraudulent purposes, including treatments for purportedly sick individuals, sowing seeds for spiritual breakthroughs, and special prayers. The funds were deposited into the fraudsters’ bank accounts.
The EFCC confirmed that the suspects will be charged in court once the investigation is concluded.
