During the first meeting with the staff of the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), newly appointed Director General Dr. Barr Obiageli Amadiobi vowed to foster an open-door policy and an inclusive work environment. Dr. Amadiobi, who was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasized her commitment to transparency and collaboration as she steps into her role.
Addressing the staff at the NOTAP headquarters, Dr. Amadiobi expressed gratitude for the warm reception she has received and shared her vision for the agency.
“My appointment as the Director General and CEO of NOTAP is a divine opportunity to contribute to nation-building and to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda of our administration,” she stated.
Dr. Amadiobi, who brings experience from her tenure as the Permanent Secretary of the Imo State Ministry of Information and Strategy, highlighted her readiness to tackle the challenges faced by NOTAP. She assured the staff that she had been thoroughly briefed by the directors and department heads about the office’s current activities and obstacles.
“I see myself as a mother to all of you,” Dr. Amadiobi said warmly. “Every staff member is my child, and I am committed to providing a level playing field for everyone to contribute to the development of the Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) sector.” She reiterated her commitment to engaging with staff on both individual and departmental levels to harness their talents for the nation’s benefit.
Looking ahead, Dr. Amadiobi outlined her ambitious plans to transform NOTAP into a world-class institution over her four-year tenure. She emphasized the importance of restructuring and elevating the office to better serve Nigeria and to be a source of pride for all employees.
Directing her attention to the agency’s directors, Dr. Amadiobi called for the full execution of approved projects and programs. She encouraged the adoption of a teamwork ethos across departments to foster innovation and development. “Regular updates on departmental activities, achievements, and challenges are essential for our progress,” she noted.
Dr. Idoreyin Imiyoho, the former Acting Director General and current Director of Technology Innovation and Commercialization, delivered a heartfelt welcome to Dr. Amadiobi. She praised the staff for their cooperation during her interim leadership and emphasized the importance of supporting the new Director General to achieve NOTAP’s objectives. “Teamwork and dedication are crucial for any organization to meet its goals,” Dr. Imiyoho remarked.
The sentiment of collaboration was echoed by Comrade Okoro Champion, Chairman of the None Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), NOTAP branch. Representing the union, he pledged unwavering support and loyalty to Dr. Amadiobi’s leadership. He also urged her to maintain an environment where all staff could freely express their ideas and contribute to both the office’s and the country’s development.
The meeting was well-attended, with over 90% of the staff present. The enthusiasm in the room was palpable as employees looked forward to a new era under Dr. Amadiobi’s leadership, where everyone would be valued and included.
