Western Digital recently unveiled the SanDisk Desk Drive, an innovative addition to its lineup of external desktop SSDs tailored for the evolving needs of digital creators and professionals managing substantial amounts of data.
The launch of the SanDisk Desk Drive addresses the growing demand for robust storage solutions capable of handling the escalating production of digital content. Susan Park, Vice President of Consumer Solutions at Western Digital, emphasized this need, stating, “With the exponential growth of digital content, there’s an increasing demand for storage solutions that provide both higher capacity and enhanced performance.”
The SanDisk Desk Drive offers storage capacities of 4TB and 8TB, making it well-suited for storing vast collections of photos, videos, AI-generated files, and large documents. With read speeds of up to 1,000 MB/s, approximately four times faster than traditional desktop HDDs, users can enjoy swift access to large files such as 8K videos. Additionally, the drive is compatible with popular backup utilities like Apple Time Machine and comes bundled with Acronis True Image for Western Digital, facilitating seamless setup of automatic data backups.
Recognized with a 2024 Red Dot Design Award, the Desk Drive features a sleek, space-efficient design that complements any professional or home office setting, maximizing desk space. Pre-formatted in exFAT for compatibility with both Windows and macOS, it includes a USB Type-C cable for immediate connectivity.
Backed by a three-year limited warranty, the 4TB model is priced at $379.99, while the 8TB model retails for $699.99. Interested buyers can make their purchase here now, with a 16TB variant slated for future release.
