The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has teamed up with the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA) to launch a transformative capacity-building and empowerment program aimed at enhancing the digital capabilities of 50 indigenous businesses in the state.
Over the course of three days, the program focuses on introducing digital technology adoption strategies for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Katsina State. The goal is to equip these enterprises with the necessary skills to leverage modern digital technologies for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness in achieving business objectives. “This initiative aims to equip students from a young age with foundational digital skills essential for future success,” he stated.
During the event’s opening ceremony in Katsina, Deputy Governor Mallam Farouk Lawal Jobe commended the participants for their dedication to using technology to elevate their businesses. The state’s commitment to supporting these entrepreneurs was highlighted, with a call for the utilization of the knowledge gained from the training.
NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa, emphasized the pivotal role SMEs play in economic growth and job creation. The agency’s strategic interventions, such as digital literacy campaigns and capacity-building workshops, aim to empower MSMEs to navigate the digital landscape more effectively.
The program, named NITDA Digital Empowerment for MSMEs (NDE4M), is designed to help MSMEs in Katsina adopt and harness digital technology to enhance their business operations. By embracing digital innovations, the state aims to foster entrepreneurship and drive economic growth through sustainable and inclusive means.
He said, “In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, your decision to embrace innovation will undoubtedly propel your businesses to new heights of success. By leveraging digital tools and strategies, you are not only positioning yourselves for growth but also contributing to the overall advancement of the MSMEs sector.”
