Glo Sponsored African Voices Shines Spotlight on Moroccan-born US Rapper, MC French Montana

In a special episode of African Voices Changemakers, a popular program sponsored by Glo , the spotlight will be on Moroccan-American rapper MC French Montana, also known as Karim Kharbouch.

MC French Montana, born on November 9, 1984, has established himself as a prominent figure in the music industry, boasting an impressive 41 platinum hits throughout his illustrious career. Larry Madowo, the anchor of African Voices Changemakers, recently had the opportunity to interview the rapper at his residence in Los Angeles. The interview also took Madowo to New York City, where he attended the premiere of French Montana’s latest documentary, chronicling his journey from a struggling immigrant to becoming a multimillionaire superstar.

Having immigrated to the United States at the age of 13 with his family, French Montana went on to found Coke Boys Records and its precursor, Cocaine City Records. In 2012, he signed a joint-venture record deal with Puff Daddy’s Bad Boy Records and Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group, cementing his position in the industry. One of his notable collaborations was with Rick Ross on the hit track “Quarter to Eight.” The song marked the beginning of a series of successful collaborations between the two legendary artists. French Montana has received numerous accolades for his work, including the prestigious Best Club Banger Award at the BET Hip Hop Awards in 2013.

His talent and impact have also earned him several nominations at esteemed award shows. In 2016, he was nominated twice in the Best Rap Song category, and in 2017, he received a nomination for Best Rap Performance at the Grammy Awards.

The 30-minute edition of African Voices Changemakers featuring MC French Montana will be broadcast on DSTV Channel 401 on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., with repeat airings on Sunday at 4:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Viewers will have another chance to catch the episode the following week on Saturday at 12:30 p.m., 4:30 a.m., and Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
