Renowned gospel artiste Frank Edwards took center stage at the recent graduation ceremony of the MTNF-MUSON School of Music, where he presented awards to four exceptional graduates. The event, held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, celebrated the achievements of Flora Fasan, Victor Sunday, Oluwarotimi Samuel, and Moyosore Adebanjo, who were recognized for their outstanding talent and dedication.
Flora Fasan received the award for the most versatile female singer, while Victor Sunday was honored as the best contemporary piano player. Oluwarotimi Samuel’s excellence in studio technology earned him the award for the best in that field, and Moyosore Adebanjo was acknowledged as the best string player. These talented individuals stood out among their peers, showcasing their exceptional skills and commitment to their craft.
Following the award presentation, Frank Edwards took to the stage to perform his hit single from 2022, “Okaka,” alongside Flora Fasan and the graduating class of 2023. The artist expressed his excitement about collaborating with MUSON School of Music alumni and pledged to continue working with the institution to provide a platform for young talents in Nigeria to shine.
Frank Edwards, a highly acclaimed artiste, songwriter, and founder of Rocktown Records, has consistently produced chart-topping songs such as “Oghene Do,” “Okaka,” and “You Too Dey Bless Me,” among others. The graduation ceremony marked the culmination of the MTNF-MUSON Diploma in Music scholarship program, with 29 music scholars successfully completing their studies. The two-day event featured a captivating concert and an official ceremony to welcome these talented individuals into the Nigerian music scene.
The MTNF-MUSON Scholars’ Diploma Programme was established in 2006, and since then, the MTN Foundation has provided full financial support to over 400 music scholars, enabling them to pursue their education at the prestigious Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) School of Music. This initiative has played a significant role in nurturing and developing the musical talent in Nigeria, paving the way for a brighter future for the country’s music industry.
