In a bid to enhance effective policing, security, and the maintenance of law and order in Nigeria, the Acting Inspector-General of Police (Ag. IGP) Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, has directed the deployment of thirty-five (35) Commissioners of Police to various state commands and formations across the country. This move comes after the Police Service Commission approved the recommendation put forth by the Ag. IGP.
The newly posted Commissioners of Police are expected to play a crucial role in upholding the commitment of the police leadership to ensuring safety and security in the nation. Among the prominent appointments are CP Adelesi E. Oluwarotimi to the Kwara State Command, CP Adebola Ayinde Hamzat, fdc, to the Oyo State Command, CP Augustina N. Ogbodo to the Ebonyi State Command, CP Samuel Titus Musa to the Kebbi State Command, CP Aderemi Olufemi Adeoye to the Anambra State Command, CP Auwal Musa to the Bauchi State Command, and CP Alamatu Abiodun Mustapha to the Ogun State Command.
Additionally, CP Margaret Ochalla has been assigned to the Police Special Fraud Unit Annex in Lagos, CP Banji Ogunrinde will head the Explosive Ordnance Unit, CP Rhoda A. Olofu will be stationed at the Ports Authority Police Western in Lagos, CP Kareem Musa will be based at the Interpol Annex in Lagos, CP Audu Dabigi will join the Border Patrol Force, CP Abibo D. Reuben, fsi, has been assigned to the Police Mobile Force, CP Adekunle Ismaila Olusokan will be responsible for Welfare at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, CP Omolara Ibidun Oloruntola will serve at the Special Fraud Unit FCID in Abuja, and CP Abaniwonda S. Olufemi will assume the role of Deputy Force Secretary, among other appointments.
The Ag. IGP has urged the newly appointed Commissioners of Police to align themselves with his policies, vision, and mission for the Nigerian Police Force. They have been tasked with prioritizing the safety and well-being of the citizens they serve, while upholding the principles of fairness, professionalism, and respect for human rights.
In addition, the Ag. IGP has called upon the Commissioners to lead by example and foster harmonious relationships with other security agencies, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders. They have been directed to promote intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention strategies, and community engagement initiatives that will bolster public trust and confidence in the Nigerian Police Force.
With these appointments and directives, the Acting Inspector-General of Police aims to strengthen the nation’s security apparatus, ensuring a safer environment for all Nigerians.
