The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has recently launched an innovative E-Services Platform designed to streamline the process of submitting Type Approval Applications.
The introduction of this online system aims to simplify the acquisition of communications equipment type approval certification.
Applicants can access the platform through the URL https://eservices.ncc.gov.ng/
This includes details such as the Company RC/BN Number, Company Tx Identification Number, and Email address.
The NCC has also specified that, if required, applicants may be requested to submit commercial grade samples of the equipment.
However, this request is limited to notebooks, tablets, and mobile phones only.
The commission assures applicants that all samples provided will be retained for reference purposes.
Furthermore, it is essential that equipment brought into Nigeria for Type Approval conforms to the RED Directive. This directive replaces the old Radio Equipment and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment R&TTE Directive 1999/5/EC.
To complete the application process, applicants are required to upload various documents online.
These documents must be in English and include the following: Health and Safety + SAR TEST REPORT, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMS and EMI), and Effective Use of the Radio Spectrum. Additionally, a Declaration of Conformity (DoC) is necessary, and for radio equipment operating on the 5GHz frequency band, a declaration of conformity to the Regulatory Guidelines for Deployment of Broadband Services on 5.2 – 5.9 GHz is also mandatory.
Applicants should also include pictures of the equipment, pictures of equipment labels, and a Letter of Authority (LoA).
All applications must be submitted to the following address: The Executive Vice Chairman Nigerian Communications Commission, Plot 423 Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Maitama, Abuja.
Attention should be directed to The Director, Technical Standards and Network Integrity.
Once a Type Approval Application has been successfully reviewed and invoices have been issued, payment can be made through two methods. Firstly, applicants can make a direct payment via the E-Services platform at https://eservices.ncc.gov.ng/
Secondly, payment can be made through the Remita platform at https://www.remita.net/ by searching for Nigerian Communications and selecting Type Approval Fees.
In both cases, upon successful payment confirmation, the E-Services platform will automatically generate an E-Receipt, which can be instantly downloaded by the applicant.
The implementation of this new E-Services Platform by the Nigerian Communications Commission is expected to greatly enhance the efficiency and accessibility of the Type Approval Application process, ultimately benefiting both applicants and the regulatory body.
