MTN Nigeria has introduced the first ‘Voice over Long-Term Evolution (VoLTE)’ call service in Nigeria
This comes just days after the telecoms behemoth revealed plans to provide mobile payment services through its Momo Payment Service Bank Limited (Momo PSB) following final regulatory permission in Nigeria.
Customers who own compatible handsets can enjoy enhanced natural-sounding voice quality, less background noise, and speedier call connectivity with the VoLTE service.
The MTN VoLTE call service is available to all clients with VoLTE-enabled devices such as the Tecno Phantom X, Infinix Zero X, and Infinix Zero X Pro smartphones, as well as other device models from Samsung, Nokia, and Apple, among others.
The new service by Nigeria’s top telecom operator, which has more than 70 million users, underscores the company’s commitment to “giving access to the greatest communications technologies and improving overall customer experience.”
According to Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Nigeria, Adia Sowho,“with VoLTE, MTN Nigeria continues to enhance Nigerian lives with innovative technology. VoLTE is free to access today at your rates, from a VoLTE-enabled smartphone so you can call and surf at the same time with no interruptions ever again. We move!”
To enjoy the service, customers only need to do three things: check that they have a 4G USIM; check that they are within a 4G coverage area by texting 4G to 131, and update their VOLTE smartphone to the latest software version and restart the phone. Customers without a 4G USIM can schedule an appointment by visiting
